A Louisville Wedding

Louisville KY

It’s wedding season! I love attending weddings. ESPECIALLY destination weddings. They give me the excuse to go places I never would have thought to go to by myself for vacation. This labor day weekend I attended a Louisville wedding. That’s right you people paying attention. I got to go to the south TWICE in two weeks. My heart is so happy.

This trip was extra special because I was going to see an old co-worker get married. The weekend ended up being a huge reunion with 10 of my coworkers who also flew out for the wedding which was so fun!

I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I liked Louisville. We stayed downtown at the Marriott which looked more like a Ritz on the inside. The city was so beautiful and clean!! Coming from LA, it was a very different experience.

I spent some time walking around the city by myself. There was so much history to take in. The town was scattered with these plaques that told you about major landmarks. Most people walked right past them, but some were especially haunting and I found myself staring for far too long on the corner of the road just trying to imagine what it was like there in a different time.

The wedding was held at a botanical garden just outside of the city. The grounds were extensive and so beautiful.

There were cottages for the groomsmen to get ready in and a castle for the bridal party. Nothing like a Jon Snow cutout and dragon balloon from your future husband as a wedding day present!

The wedding was gorgeous and so unique to them. Who would have thought to play a podcast during the ceremony!

We spent the rest of the weekend sampling all different kinds of bourbon and BBQ. I fell in love with this little pub right underneath a bridge going over the Ohio River. It was just so clever! After talking non-stop about it, we finally went for farewell drinks on our final night and it made my heart happy.

If you aren’t a huge bourbon drinker coming in to Louisville, trust me, you will be by the time you leave. There are so many fun places to explore throughout the city and if you ARE into bourbon, there are plenty of distillery tours for you to experience!
